Moon Block Party

TERRIFIC TIMES: There are a number of notable things about the Moon Block Party, which is rocking/snacking/strolling in Pomona on Saturday, June 11. The name is pretty nifty, first of all, even if there isn't too much moonly stuff going down (that said, the outdoor fest extends into the night, so you'll be partying by moonlight). And the posted times for the fest make us smile. The bash is on from 12:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., which seems to us very easy to remember. And very long, too, in the best sense; sometimes fests are packing away the booths just after people start arriving.

ROCKING DETAILS: Several bands are set to rock -- hello, Halloween Swim Team and Pity Party -- and there will be lots of art walking going down. This is, in fact, going down smack during the first Pomona art walk of the summer, say the organizers. It's free, too, and it lends love to The School of Arts, in all the money-giving ways. And do we see the word "succulents" on the info page? Succulents for sale aren't often promoted in conjunction with a music festival. All right, Moon Block Party, you've won us over, what with your noon-thirty to midnight-thirty running time and your art and your free and your succulents. Won. Over.
