Muertos, on Display and on Stage

Bring a photo for a display at the California Science Center.

While the weekends before and after a major holiday like Dia de los Muertos tend to have a number of events focused on the holiday, many people want to celebrate on the actual traditional days of celebration, which fall on a Monday and Tuesday in 2010.

Of course there are ways to remember, personally, but there are a couple of larger events to note. The California Science Center has set up a large display and is inviting visitors to show with a photograph of a loved one you want to pay homage to. The display will also have the usual altar touches like flowers and pan de muerto. Note that your snapshot will not be returned (but nice to think of it joining a large Dia commemoration.)

The Center will have the display open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, November 1 and Tuesday, November 2. Details.

Also, "You Only Live Twice" is a stage show at the Steve Allen starring performer Gabriela Crowe. It's on Monday, November 1 at 8 p.m. And we like the name. Perfectly Dia and perfectly bold.
