Naked Statue Controversy in San Pedro: A bronze Italian statue that…

A bronze Italian statue that depicts a naked man (he's called "Multicultural Man") is causing a ruckus in San Pedro, reports the Daily Breeze. A gift from sister city Ischia, Italy, the statue will be unveiled tomorrow and then placed at a not-yet-announced location. The Breeze's Donna Littlejohn writes: "Downtown San Pedro business owner Mike Caccavalla has spent plenty of time in Europe and appreciates art. But he said putting Multicultural Man outdoors in a public space in San Pedro just isn't a good fit. 'I don't want to have to explain to my 12-year-old daughter why there's a naked man at Swinford and Harbor Boulevard,' he said." And here's a close-up the statue. We need a better picture, but it looks like there's a lot going on down there, right? [Daily Breeze]For more stories from Curbed LA, go to la.curbed.com.
