NBC4 Contributes to Housing for Homeless Veterans

NBC4 Southern California provided a contribution to SRO Housing Corporation, one of the largest nonprofit providers of affordable housing for homeless and low-income individuals in Southern California, to support the transformation of the historic Rosslyn Hotel to an affordable apartment building for homeless veterans and low-income residents.

On Thursday, January 22, 2015 the organization held the grand opening of the building with NBC4 Meteorologist Shanna Mendiola as Master of Ceremonies.

The Rosslyn Hotel was once among the tallest and grandest structures in Los Angeles with a marble and mahogany lobby and sunlit atrium. Decades later, the building fell into disrepair, but the organization carefully restored the structure and renamed it the Rosslyn Hotel Apartments.  It's SRO Housing Corporation’s 30th development in downtown Los Angeles and includes 264 fully furnished studio apartments. Nearly 100 formerly homeless veterans have moved into the building.
