NBC4 Southern California and hundreds of NBCUniversal employees participated in the annual LA Pride Parade on Sunday, June 12 in West Hollywood, taking place along Santa Monica Blvd at 11 a.m.  NBC4 Anchor Colleen Williams and Co-Anchor and Reporter Michael Brownlee will ride the parade route in a convertible, followed by a second convertible with Today in LA Meteorologist Crystal Egger and Technology and Social Media Reporter Mekahlo Medina.

The parade is part of a a three-day LGBTQ festival that begins Friday, June 10 and includes events for all ages, including music, art and cultural programs. This year’s line-up will be headlined by multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen along with more than 50 artists scheduled to perform.

LA Pride Parade will mark the 46th anniversary, the first permitted LGBTQ parade in the country. This year, the organization honors Jewel Thais-Williams as the Parade Grand Marshal. Thais-Williams was the owner of the historic Catch One Disco, one of the most iconic African American discos in the world. Her work with those affected by HIV/AIDS continues as the co-founder of the Minority AIDS Project.  The event's programming will also include events to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS within LGBTQ communities of color.
