NBC4 Los Angeles Wins Five Golden Mike Awards

NBC4 LOS ANGELES WINS FIVE GOLDEN MIKE AWARDS, INCLUDING
BEST 30-MINUTE NEWSCAST

TELEMUNDO 52 & KWHY ALSO TAKE HOME AWARDS


NBC4 Los Angeles won five Golden Mike Awards on Saturday, January 24th at the Radio Television News Association’s (RTNA) annual Awards Ceremony.  The “Channel 4 News at 11PM” won the coveted “Best 30-Minute Newscast” and the station’s news organization was honored with “Best Spot News Reporting” for its coverage of the Chatsworth train collision. 

NBC4 also won the Golden Mike “Best Television Investigative Reporting” for the Joel Grover’s “School Water Investigation,” an expose on lead in the drinking water at elementary schools in Los Angeles.  Matt Goldberg, Jim Hourani, Dave Fernandez and Jose Hernandez shared in the award.  Dr. Bruce Hensel’s “Diabetes:  Challenges and Breakthroughs” took the trophy for “Best Television News Documentary,” while Robert Kovacik, Jeff Sharping and Khalid Shabazz were recognized for “Paparazzi Task Force” as “Best Television Entertainment Reporting.”

Telemundo 52 won two Golden Mikes.  Reporter Gabriel Huerta’s “Tijuana Rambo” won for “Best Serious Feature Reporting” and Juan M. Martinez’ won Best Video Editing of a Hard News Story” for the same report.   KWHY’s Jose Ronstadt’s “The Most Anti Immigrant State” won for “Best News Special.
