New Dates for the Cherry Blossom Fest

The festival makes the move from April to September.

When the organizers behind the Southern California Cherry Blossom Festival announced a postponement just days ahead of the fest, participants and attendees alike were disappointed. After all, the Cherry Blossom Festival, which traditionally takes place in Little Tokyo in early April, is one of the city's grandest springtime to-dos.

But just over a month after that announcement comes the good news that the festival will indeed happen, though not during spring; an autumn weekend is now on the schedule. Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 are the new dates (and the new theme is "Blossoms in the Fall").

There is a springtime event happening at City Hall's front lawn on Saturday, May 21. It's the build-a-crane fundraiser that was scheduled to happen at the April fest; money raised will go to the Japan Relief.
