Nine Injured in Crash at Westlake Intersection

Six women and three men were injured after two vehicles collided in a Westlake intersection, sending one car onto the sidewalk, where it hit two pedestrians.

The crash at 603 S. Rampart Blvd. was reported just after 10 p.m. Wednesday, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman d'Lisa Davies said.

One car broadsided a small station wagon, spun out, hit a fence and a post, and struck two pedestrians walking on the sidewalk, Davies said.

The city fire spokeswoman said that one person suffered minor injuries and the other had moderate injuries. Both were taken to hospitals.

Seven motorists were also hospitalized -- four with moderate injuries and three with minor injuries, she said. The victims ranged in age from 19 to 54, Davies added.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
