Now Open: Double RL on Melrose

Ralph Lauren's Double RL flagship store on Melrose opened its doors today, and sales staff informed us we were one of the first to check it out. Upon entry, the merchandising starts off with a British hunting vibe, morphing quickly into the familiar vintage collegiate look one would associate with RL, then heads more into a badboy-biker-knife-fighter look. There are tons of cords, cargo pants, and rugged, sometimes-studded leather.

Everything is so seamlessly merchandised, it took us a moment to realize some pieces are actual vintage from the 1940's, which is what inspired the collection in the first place.

The back denim room has an old western vibe—there are even some books on vintage and cowboy fashion. Most of the denim is classic dark, with some lighter washes mixed in, and some are heavily timeworn with plaid and cord patches working their way down the thighs and knees.

We're not gonna lie—everything is pretty pricey. The cheapest item we spotted was a plain black knit cap for $165. Silver religious icon necklaces are $400, cashmere sweaters are in the $300 range, and leather jackets and pants will cost you a grand or more.
