Pee-Wee's Big Day

Pee-Wee Herman opens at Club Nokia.

Rare is it that drama is kicked up before a stage show opens.

But if you had tickets to the canceled November, Fonda-based run of "The Pee-Wee Herman Show" -- tickets flew like a pterodactyl on the wing -- you saw, or were part of, the drama. In short, the comic moved his show to Club Nokia, and the dates from November to January, and several fans who had booked plane tickets and hotels were out of luck.

The opening night at Club Nokia has finally arrived, and Mr. Herman has promised to meet all the fans who had bought tickets for the Fonda and followed him downtown. LA Times has the details.

And about the show: crazy squiggly secret-word-y madness, with a lot of the outlandish characters who used to turn up on the Pee-Wee's Playhouse doorstep. Turn up in droves. Bet the red bow tie will make an appearance, too, and Terry the Pterodactyl.

"Turnip" is not the secret word of the day, but it certainly should be, because it is a great word.

"The Pee-Wee Herman Show" runs January 12th through February 7th.
