Pretty, Sparkly Chandeliers! Bev Hills Blows a Kiss to the Season

Twenty twinkly chandeliers hung high above a fashionable shopping thoroughfare. A massive, shiny snowflake dazzling nearby. And Nicole Richie and Good Charlotte's Joel Madden appearing to kick the season into jolly gear. You're clearly not just at any ho-hum, holiday-themed, flip-the-switch lighting, oh no; this is Beverly Hills, and the fizziest few weeks of the year here have a pop that could rival a champagne cork.

The chandeliers? Baccarat, of course. The street? Darling, Rodeo! The snowflake? It commemorates UNICEF, a charity near to Nicole Richie's and Joel Madden's hearts (he's a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador). The other fa-la-la-flavored goings-on? Santa is arriving -- of course -- and so is the band The 88 and singer Kreesha Turner. Both will take turns singing some songs that, we're guessing, might have a bit of tinselly magic to them.

If not, the carols get turned on later for the fireworks show above the Beverly Wilshire hotel. We've always been cheered how The BH, a city that's already frilled-out, ups the frill quotient at Christmas. The banners say "Deck the Hills" and they aren't kidding. Saturday, November 22, 3PM-on (music starts at 6PM). Beverly Hills, Rodeo Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard.
