One could be forgiven if, in one's mind, laser light shows and older brothers with souped-up hot rods go together like peanut butter and jelly. Approximately 2.7 million people, give or take, were first introduced to laser light shows a few decades back via an older brother, or sister, or neighbor, someone who had a wicked-cool car and amazing taste in music and could explain the finer points of "Dark Side of the Moon" while playing, over and over, the opening chords to "Money" on a slightly out-of-tune acoustic guitar.
Are they wearing corduroy bell bottoms in this scenario? Well of course.
But the joy of lasers set to music never went away, though trends rise and fall, like trends always do. Laserium CyberTheater is now open on Hollywood Boulevard -- it debuted on June 25th at the newly re-done-over Vine Theater -- and it is bringing laser-light spectaculars to all those who love nothing more than to sit back, sit waaay back, and be entranced by wild, twirly illuminations dancing on air.
Laserium is open Wednesday-Sunday, with shows featuring classic rock (Beatles, Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin -- perfection) and various tuneage; more features, like theme nights, will be added in the fall.
Our older brothers are totally busy with, like, their car and stuff, so we'll probably drive ourselves over to Hollywood for some laser-based mind journeying.
