Rainn Wilson to Bare His Soul(Pancake) at USC

"The Office" actor ditches Dwight for a night of enlightenment

Although Dwight Schrute's fictional coworkers have mixed feelings about the paper salesman, audiences resoundingly delight in his oddities: a wardrobe that ranges from dull yellow to mustard, his beet farm, and the fact that he "resorbed" his twin while in the womb -- giving him the strength of a "grown man and a little baby."

But we imagine that when actor Rainn Wilson appears before audiences on Friday, March 25 at the University of Southern California's Bovard Auditorium, they will be grateful that he shares neither Dwight's social awkwardness nor his stash of samurai swords and brass knuckles.

Outside of TV land, Wilson is much more enlightened -- so much so that he created a website called SoulPancake that prompts people to ponder and answer some of life's more open-ended questions: Can your goals destroy you? Is it unrealistic to expect happiness? What cliché do you actively try to negate? Often, the responses are just as interesting and thought provoking as the questions.

Now that the website has inspired a book, "SoulPancake: Chew on Life's Big Questions," Wilson and fellow authors Devon Gundry, Golriz Lucina and Shabnam Mogharabi will discuss the philosophy behind their project.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m., with book signings to follow. Admission is free and open to the public. RSVP here.

And maybe, just maybe, Dwight will try to take a stab at those questions, too.
