San Diego Cool: All-Star Yoga

Find your pose during the All-Star Week special event.

MAJORLY MAJOR LEAGUE: Major League Baseball is pretty major on all fronts, whether we're talking about a game, a fundraiser, a special day at a stadium, or fan love. But sometimes the MLB gets even majorer, if such a thing could be possible (we know, that's not technically a word, but if ever it could apply, it applies here). Look to the All-Star Game, a centerpiece on the big MLB calendar, and definitely a draw for whatever city it lands within. That city in 2016 is San Diego, and while the hey-batter showdown'll go down at Petco Park, a bevy of complementary happenings will orbit and festoon the important game. One of those nifty events also deals with physicality, and inner reflection, and some of the qualities that baseball players call upon to play: a yoga session. Not just any yoga session, however, but All-Star Yoga, a partnership between the MLB and Soul Pose. It gets the love, as it should, and with so many people wanting to downward dog during the rare class, a rare location was in order. That location will be...

BEAUTIFUL WATERFRONT PARK: The date is Saturday, July 9, which is just a few days ahead of the 87th Annual All-Star Game (that's on Tuesday, July 12). There are two sessions to choose from -- 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. -- and participants of all skills are more than welcome. There shall be Soul Pose mats to plank upon, and the added convivialities of bubbles and body paint and tunes. Class length? One hour. Tickets? They're this way. Other happenings during the big MLB All-Star Week 'round San Diego? There's a Color Run, a FanFest, a Legends & Celebrity Softball Game, and more. Call it baseball with a dollop of extra event-flavored goodness on top, much like a hot dog rocks with some extra mustard. Feeling the MLB-a-tude? Start here, sunshine-craving, baseball-loving yogis, and sign up for the Waterfront Park party.
