Sip Tequila, Make Tamale, Repeat

The concept of Tamale and Tequila Tuesdays -- an event going on every Tuesday through December at Ortega 120 -- appeals. Tamales, for the obvious reasons. Tequila, for the obvious reasons. And Tuesday? It's that day of the week where our collective moaning and groaning is a little less loud than Monday, but still faintly audible.

So a class that teaches the finer arts of mixing masa and folding husks and whipping up delicious pockets of tamale-based goodness? The second weekday sounds ripe for that kind of fun. Chef Tommy Ortega is the teacher, and you can eat and drink (margaritas and appetizers are provided) your way through class. And whatever you can't consume but still manage to construct -- you've been drinking margaritas, after all -- you can take home for later enjoyment.

Imagine arriving at work with a couple of those beauties and then bragging that you yourself made them. Jealous? Needy? Your co-workers are sure to hover nearby as you finish those tamales off.
