Staying Over at Savor

FOODIE CONFAB: Savor the Central Coast is one of the biggest, foodiest, vinolicious events on the Sunset magazine calendar. Gourmets and aspiring chefs and famous cooks gather to talk about sustainable edibles and growing techniques and strong tannins and other tasty topics. It's quite appealing to a lot of people, of course, which means booking a hotel for the Sept. 29 through Oct. 2 event is best done well ahead of time. And while we're still well ahead of time, that well-ahead-of-time-ness grows shorter by the day. Oh, but look; there's a Savor SLO Hotel Package. Let's explore.

TWO TICKETS: Reserve two nights at a San Luis Obispo hotel and receive a gratis pair of tickets to either the Saturday, Oct. 1 or Sunday, Oct. 2 Savor the Central Coast main event. (The main event is at pretty Santa Margarita Ranch, which you definitely want to see.) After you book your two-nighter in SLO you'll need to forward your receipt to a particular email for tickets (details here).

PHOTO ABOVE: Yep, it is Morro Rock. Yep, it is more of a volcanic plug than a rock. Yep, it is pretty close to San Luis, and all the Savor happenings. Yep, it is one of our state's most spectacular sights. It doesn't have much to do with food or wine, but it is a beautiful and ancient locale. You've already worked it into your foodie weekend, we hope? Good. Get out of the car and walk around.
