Strip Malls Re-Imagined: Lots of Green, Lots of Vertical

Apparently some idealistic people believe that the country's vast supply of strip malls can be improved on because last year the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) in Arizona kicked off “Flip a Strip," a competition that asked architecture firms across the country to re-envision the strip mall. Above is the winning submission--it's by a firm MOS (New Haven, Connecticut). A second shot is after the jump, while blog Bustler has all the finalists.
