Talking Points: Feb. 11

...Ever since the grumpus character played by Jack Nicholson in "As Good as it Gets" picked on neighbor Greg Kinnear's little Brussels Griffon (if you'll recall, Kinnear's character claimed that Nicholson had thrown his dog down the garbage chute), we've been waiting for the famously monikered "monkey dog" to rise again. It did this week, at Westminster, nabbing the Toy Group title. That little patootie's name? Lincoln. So noble.

...So, in a Fido-y frame of mind, we turn to two LA-based barker events. The oh-so-stylish OrangeBone pet store (cute collars galore) on Melrose is throwing a bash the weekend of February 14-15 to celebrate its dedication to finding shelter pups forever homes. Look for a host of animal-cool activities, a raffle for a free doggie massage and other fun extras.

...Also, Hamburger Mary's West Hollywood bingo night puts the spotlight on raising funds for rescue group Paw Parent. Your dough will go to beds, toys, and other doggie delights. Plus, bingo! It's all woof worthy. $20. Wednesday, February 11, 7-9PM.

...And on the non-related-to-pups news front, but still having "dog" in its name: StubDog ticketing comes to LA.
