The Reagan Centennial Package

The Westlake Village Inn is continuing the year-long celebration.

100 YEAR CELEBRATION: While the big celebration of Ronald Reagan's centennial year happened in February at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, much of the centennial year is still to go. Which means that the library will still be observing the major occasion, as will the Westlake Village Inn in Westlake Village. The hotel has several packages and stay-over deals going but the Reagan Centennial Package has proven to be its most popular, says a hotel rep. Thus it shall be available through Dec. 31, 2012. In the deal? A one night stay in the Ronald Reagan Master Suite, a jar of jelly beans (the president's favorite snack, as you might remember), and a VIP library tour. There are other adds and asterisks, and a way to upgrade to a lunch at the library. The Centennial Package starts at $265.

ANOTHER CENTENNIAL: While there's no hotel deal going on in conjunction with the event we're about to mention -- though if we find one we'll report back -- we wanted to mention that the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda is also celebrating a centennial this year. The library's Special Exhibits Gallery will spotlight the life of Pat Nixon, who was born on March 16, 1912. The exhibit runs through Sept. 3, 2012.
