The Catch: Bring Your Hot Plate to Lake Balboa

The Catch features everything-looks-good-except listings. Submissions to the tipline.

A reader forwards the listing for this six-bedroom, four-bath home on Gaviota Avenue in Lake Balboa. Built in 2006, it's an REO and it's listed at $410,000, but there's this: "**Please note that there is no kitchen at the present time. Ideal home for a family." Say what? "They took the kitchen with them," listing agent Robert Allen Nevins tells us, referring to the previous owners. "They lost a few hundred grand [on the home], so they took the kitchen." They even took the kitchen cabinets, he says. But Wells Fargo, the lender, has agreed to do the kitchen for a fee, or the new buyer can do the place themselves. Also, Nevins says he has seen worse. "I had some people in Calabasas and they took the water heater with them." Nevins explains that a used water heater maybe can fetch you $100. "I'm in the wrong business," he jokes. "I should be in the used water heater business."
