The Dish: West 4th/Jane, Mexico Restaurante

1) Santa Monica: Last week we tipped you on the upcoming West 4th/Jane, and it has finally opened up today. Headed by Steven Lieberman and Keith O’Brien, the bar offers an array of 100 beers in bottles and cans, in addition to a short menu of mostly bar fare. The spot is named after NYC's Corner Bistro which is located at West 4th and Jane, and the owners have attempted to meld an NYC meets Cali ambiance. As you may recall, we mentioned that West 4th/Jane took over the former 3 on Fourth location and it appears that not much has changed interior-wise. It seems a bit more bohemian with the whole yellow wall situation, but the booths are the same, the long white marble communal dining table looks similar (though it's now the bar), even the barstools haven't changed. 1432a 4th Street; (310) 395-6765 [EaterWire]

2) WeHo: We got the dish via Tasting Table that Mexico Restaurante y Barra is now in full swing courtesy of owner Larry Nicola (Nic's Martini Lounge). The colorful abode has been opened about a month, and boasts a wood-burning over left over from former occupant Italian resty, Bienvenudo. 8512 Santa Monica Blvd; (310) 289-0088; website
