This Week at the Fair

Heat's down and the big shows continue. Been yet?

Did you make the Los Angeles County Fair this past Saturday? Sept. 15?

If so we raise a high five in your general direction; it was, in fact, one of the hottest days of the year, if not one of the hottest days of any year. You might have known this from a) your general sweaty state b) the fact that it was all anyone could talk about and c) all of the above.

But autumn is poking its head back into September, meaning that a day out under the sun at Pomona's annual spectacular might be in order, if you decided to forgo the heat last weekend.

If so, you've chosen a fine week to hit the fair. It is, in fact, week three, meaning time is a-dwindlin'; the country's largest county fair wraps up on Sunday, Sept. 30.

Happening this week? The concerts are new: Boyz II Men and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds start things off on Thursday, Sept. 20. WAR is on Friday, Sept. 21, an Old School Jam takes the stage on Saturday, Sept. 22 -- Rose Royce, Heatwave, Evelyn "Champagne" King, and Lenny Williams will perform -- and the Pistol Annies round out the weekend on Sunday, Sept. 23.

As always, the ongoing going events and happenings will be drawing the crowds: Mojo's Safari Show, beer tastings, the Pirate's Parrot Show, and the Aerial Arts Circus Show are just four of the dozens of daily to-dos.

Again, we say it: temps will be significantly lower than last weekend. Want to avoid last-weekend crowds? Hit the second to last Saturday and Sunday.
