Tonight: “Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo”

A lauded doc buzzes downtown.

"BEETLE QUEEN CONQUERS TOKYO": If we say this documentary has been much buzzed about, that isn't a play on its bug-centered title. If you recently visited the Natural History's Bug Fair, best get to the Downtown Independent, where it runs -- or perhaps scrambles, beetle-like -- through June 3.

"THE PARTICULAR SADNESS OF LEMON CAKE": Another beautiful title, but this time a book. The book's author is Aimee Bender, and magical realism and mystery is the spice at the rich center of her novel. She's at Skylight Books tonight at 7:30 p.m.

GREAT GUITARS -- JONNY LANG: There's conversation about inspiration and other tuneful topics, there's music, there's fine blues afoot, and Q&Aing from the audience. The virtuoso is at the Grammy Museum at 8 p.m.
