Tonight: Ben Folds at the Fonda

Two nights of piano wizardry. Tonight's night #1.

BEN FOLDS: We remain intrigued by the whole "is that Ben Folds?" Chatroulette mystery. But now we're even more intrigued by all of those college a cappella groups covering the piano wiz's songbook. Whatever you're intrigued about, Ben Folds starts a two-night run at the Fonda tonight. (You can be intrigued by both things.)

MORE MUSIC: Diane Birch summons that golden PCH'd '70s sound and makes it modern. Note that the show was scheduled for the El Rey but the El Rey says that it'll be at the Mint. Check details.

"VISUAL ACOUSTICS": The work of photographer Julius Shulman, who passed away last summer at the age of 98, is the work of Los Angeles and its physical form. This film looks back at the structures he captured. A must if you are a building buff, and a triple must if you are a mid-century LA building buff. The Egyptian, 7:30 p.m. Bonus: The director'll Q&A.
