Tonight: X Games 16 Kick-Off Benefit

The summertime thrills return.

X GAMES 16 BASH AND BENEFIT: Boarders and bikers achieving air will be much in the headlines over the next few days; tonight's party gets the famous games going. Athletes are due to show, as are KROQ DJs. Tickets start at $55; Staples Center Foundation and V Foundation for Cancer Research are the beneficiaries. Nokia Theatre, 6 p.m.

MUSIC NIGHT: KRS-One signs "The Gospel of Hip Hop" at Amoeba Records (Q&Aing is part of the evening, too); the Count Basie Orchestra brings brassy swing to the Hollywood Bowl; and folk star Laura Marling plays at the El Rey.

"MEMENTO": Many people who saw "Inception" -- once, twice, three times -- vowed to see Christopher Nolan's decade-old dazzler again when they got the chance. That chance has arrived. ArcLight Pasadena has it tonight at 7:45 p.m.
