Tony Riviera Taking Over Crudo, New Steakhouse Planned

Now that Crudo is dead and gone after only a few short months---empty, per the pics above---we have word that the Primo Hospitality Group will open Tonys Los Angeles in that space. This means that with Caffe Primo a few doors down, Tony Riviera will anchor both sides of The Sunset complex. The concept is "upscale casual Italian steakhouse" with "nothing priced over $20," which basically differentiates it from BLT Steak just down the street. (That, and it's not Laurent Tourondel.) Riviera plans to renovate the space, add a fire pit on the patio, and open in early 2009 (Jan/Feb). Let's just add this to the list of other projects PHG has on its plate: Primo Bistro (new concept, table service, full liquor license) will open on SMB in West Hollywood by early December; a Caffe Primo is scheduled to open in the Pegasus Lofts downtown by the end of the year; then we have Primo Cucina at the Barker Block downtown (early 2009), and another Tonys across from the Biltmore Hotel (spring 2009). That's more Riviera than we can handle.
