Tour de Taste

Pedal Culver CIty and stop for serious snacking.

Los Angeles County Bicycle Commission

The recent news that Los Angeles County will be getting hundreds of miles of new bikeways brings further proof that we are, despite outward appearances, a bicycle-oriented city.

Don't guffaw. Don't tell us to look to Portland (although we love Portland; hi, Portland). Don't point out the numerous streets that are distinctly bike lane-free. Look instead to the always well-attended CicLAvia. Look to the LA River Rides.

And look to sweet events like Tour de Taste, which is happening on Sunday, March 4. Yep, the name signals that both cycling and snacking will be involved, which is nice. Also nice? Ballona Creek and Culver City will be the areas lazily pedaled through. We say lazily, of course, because this is not a race; you'll be stopping at various restaurants and trying different dishes.

Cost is $95, but if you're a member of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition the price drops to $65 (there's also a deal where you can buy a ticket and become a member). There's some good extras with the day, too, like a valet who will watch your wheels as you live it up at the after-party.
