UCLA Ranks Among Nation's Best Values

It's no University of North Carlona, but UCLA will do when it comes to value.

That's according ot Kiplinger's Personal Finance, which is out with its list of "100 Best Values in Public Colleges."

UCLA is 13th. UC Irvine comes in at No. 20. UC San Diego ranks 11th. Other California schools include UC Berkeley (18), UC Santa Barbara (29), UC Davis (41) and UC Santa Cruz (68).

Topping the list is North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by Florida and Virginia.

So just how does Kiplinger's define "value?" The rankings were based on admission and retention rates, student-faculty ratios and four- and six-year graduation rates, cost and financial aid  among a pool of more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities.
