WEST HOLLYWOOD: Construction seems to be progressing rapidly on the Sierra Bonita, a mixed-use apartment building on Santa Monica Blvd. The project will house 42 one-bedroom apartments for disabled and HIV-positive persons and is designed by Tighe Architecture.

VENICE: Architect Peter DeMaria strikes again! After shipping container schools, homes and hotels, we finally have a mixed-use shipping container project, that will include a small retail component on the ground floor. We hope it sells cheap Chinese-made tschotchkes. Oh, the delicious irony.
LOS FELIZ: Reviews are coming in from locals on the new pocket park at Hollywood Blvd and Vermont Ave. In a nutshell: thumbs up on the trees, where is the grass the renderings promised, and the city clearly designed it to be both skateboard- and bum-free.
