Weekend: TCM Film Fest, Grilled Cheese Invitational

Dozens of movies and stars, in Hollywood.

TCM CLASSIC FILM FESTIVAL: "King Kong" and "Midnight Cowboy" and "Sunset Boulevard," all played large in Hollywood. Stars and directors making appearances. It's the cable channel's first festival ever. Through Sunday, April 25

GRILLED CHEESE INVITATIONAL: The "invitational" part of the name says there'll be a bit of heated competition to the day. Heated like melted sharp cheddar, hot on a piece of sourdough. At LA Center Studios, Saturday, April 24

STAGECOACH: Keith Urban and Sugarland and a bevy of country headliners make for the desert for two days of alfresco crooning and from-the-heart storytelling. In Indio, April 24 and 25

LA TIMES FESTIVAL OF BOOKS: So many booths, so many books, so many deals. Plus, the kind of authors whose names are huge on the jackets. Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25 at UCLA

FIESTA BROADWAY: It's often billed as "the largest Latino event in the nation"; look for it all along Broadway downtown, and the surrounding blocks, on Sunday, April 25.

INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL IN LOS ANGELES: Rhythm Village is providing the tunes nightly, at the ArcLight Hollywood courtyard; inside, movies, shorts, top documentaries from India. Through Sunday, April 25

UNIQUE LA SPRING SHOW: We want a fancy sparkly bauble for the hair that was made with care by someone here in town. We think we'll find that, and lots more crafty wonders, at the California Market Center on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25.
