Weekend: Wine, Balloons, Carnevale, Bikes

Temecula, Pismo Beach, and Raleigh all raise a glass.

TEMECULA VALLEY WINE & BALLOON FESTIVAL: Over 30 Temecula-close wineries will have booths dotting the Lake Skinner area. And what's that drifting in the distance? Hot air balloons, and lots of 'em. June 4-6

LA WINE FESTIVAL: The two-day Raleigh Studios sip-and-snack spectacular hosts so. Many. Wineries. Check 'em out. They come from all around, Santa Barbara, Paso, Malibu, Sonoma. Plus, there's a lifestyle boothy thing going, too. Plus, absinthe. June 5-6

WINE, WAVES, & BEYOND: Like most Californians, we're super sweet on the Central Coast. Throw in some beer and wine tastings, ocean views, hotel deals, a surf movie, and a longboard competition, plus pretty Pismo Beach, and our crush grows into something deeper. June 3-6

CARNEVALE: After many years on the beach, this Venice party is moving indoors and moving toward more adult themes. Translation: 21+, exotic/erotic wear, and a $35 VIP open bar. It's at Mission Control; get details on getting tickets. June 5

LA RIVER RIDE: This waterway-close toodle-by-bike marks its decade anniversary in 2010. Do you love our river? If so, have you spent any time near it lately? This is a fine way to take in city vistas you don't often experience. June 6

TASTE OF THE NATION: Support Share Our Strength -- which is dedicated to ending childhood hunger -- at this annual to-do that's famous for celebrity chef sightings. Place is Culver City, date is June 6, a VIP ticket is $150 in advance.
