What You're Doing This Weekend: May 22-25

OUTDOOR SOUNDS IN WESTWOOD: It's nearly a quarter century along, and the two-day Jazz Reggae Festival just keeps attracting the majors. Erykah Badu is a headliner; De La Soul, People Under the Stairs, and Mavado also appear. Note that Jam Day is Sunday, while Monday is Reggae Day, so check the schedule for what day your favorite artist is on. UCLA Intramural Field, May 24-25, Noon-7PM

JEMAINE AND BRET AND THE STARS: Wry observations, not-so-wry observations, longings, cheek, and some smoldering acoustic guitar. "The Flight of the Conchords" is an obsessed-over HBO gem, full of twinkles and tunes. Now the "Conchords" duo is at the Greek, making music and making funny. Sunday, May 24, 8PM

A DOUBLE DOSE OF "FLASH GORDON": American Cinematheque is screening both famous "Flashes," one from 1936 and the one from 1980, at The Egyptian. We are all about that Queen score for the later version. Flash! Aaaaaa. Plus, Sam J. Jones as muscly Mr. Gordon was kind of perfection in casting. Sunday, May 24, 5:30PM

NOT FOR CHILDREN: "Puppet Up" from those felt-manipulating, mischief-making brains at the Jim Henson Company pops up now and then at Avalon Hollywood. Friday, May 22 is the "now" in this scenario; you should know before you go that you'll laugh, a lot, and that you should get a babysitter for the kids. Really. 8PM

"HIGHWATER" PREMIERE: "Step Into Liquid" took us right into the water; now the filmmaker's new work is debuting at Santa Monica Pier. Ideal, right? The night sky, the nearby waves, and a dramatic movie that takes us straight to the North Shore. Friday, May 22, 8PM.
