What You're Doing Today and Tonight: Thanksgiving

TIE ON AN APRON, SET UP A TABLE, GIVE: There are many places looking for volunteers to help out throughout Thanksgiving Day and the holiday season. While many people will be called up on to dish up food, if you can set up chairs or fold tables or have great organizational skills, you are needed. Find out more at Gobble Gobble Give, an event at The Echo, or the Union Station Homeless Services.

LAUGH FACTORY TRADITION: Each year, the venerable club opens its doors to jokesters, thespians and anyone who needs a warm, all-the-trimmings holiday dinner and a few smiles. The dinners are free to all, and the atmosphere is as convivial and light-hearted as one would expect from a place dedicated to comedy arts. Thursday, November 27, 1-9PM.  8001 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood. 323-656-1336

MOVIES WITH THE FAMILY (OR TO FLEE THE FAMILY FOR A FEW): More and more we hear of friends and family gathering, en masse, to spend Thanksgiving or Christmas night guffawing over the latest blockbuster. The theaters at The Grove and ArcLight are open, but some smaller cinemas are dark for the day. Find your film and then phone ahead to make sure the popcorn's a-popping.
