7/22: No Doubt, Elbow, The Moody Blues

NO DOUBT: We're admiring the black-and-white checks and fat stripes and all-over monochromatics of this tour's look. Are those cricketer's pants on the guys? And, oh right, the music, we're liking it, of course, all the famous, famous songs from one of SoCal's biggest house bands ever. They're swinging by Gibson Amphitheatre for a big ol' hit-laden happy-jump fest. "Spiderwebs" indeed. 7:15PM

WE'RE MAD FOR MANCHESTER: Elbow's been together for the better part of two decades. You like alt-y, thinking-man British sounds. You like this Manchester-born act. Maybe there's a touch of prog there? Definitely beautiful stories well told with the occasional sweeping chorus. They're at the Wiltern at 8PM.

AND WE LOVE BIRMINGHAM, TOO: The Moody Blues, speaking of prog-y geniuses who've been at it for a good, long, fan-building stretch, are also rocking SoCal tonight. Birmingham's where they came together; now they're headed for the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa at 8PM.  "The Wildest Dreams" is still a tune we're glad to catch on the radio. Turn it up. Wiiiildest dreams...
