7/27: Jarvis Cocker, “Footloose,” “Serpico”

JARVIS COCKER: British, bespectacled, always-looking-natty thinking man Jarvis Cocker has a bit of cheek and dash, and really, sometimes that's we're all looking for in our pop. Edgy pop, we should add. That he's playing on a Monday at The Wiltern means our week might just start with a bit of sizzle and saltiness. 8PM

"FOOTLOOSE": It's been too long since we danced by ourselves in a barn. Wait. We didn't mean too long, we meant never. Alas. Kevin Bacon, however, has lived that dream for us, and that dream is a musicale plum of the highest, '80s-est order. The everybody-stop-bickerin'-and-boogie flick screens for free at OCPAC. 8PM (or dusk-ish; it's outside)

"SERPICO": Another great flick -- *totally* different vibe from "Footloose" -- we should mention. You know that. You also know that the role has become nearly synonymous with Al Pacino, with gritty police procedurals, with tough-question-asking dramas of the early '70s. ArcLight Sherman Oaks, 7:30PM. The aviator sunglasses on top of the head on the poster, too. You're thinking of it, we bet.
