6/24: Three Girls and Their Buddy (with Ms. Emmylou Harris)

EMMYLOU, SHAWN, PATTY, BUDDY: That Emmylou Harris is a titan of alt-country, of old-style twang, of songs that are as pretty as tall grass swaying, is a given. That Shawn ColvinPatty Griffin, and Buddy Miller deserve accolades galore, also. That they will summon sweet harmonies at The Greek, a plan set in stone. 7:30PM

THE GRUNION: They're back, or rather, are expected back; and as grunion followers know, this is an occurrence that doesn't happen all that often. If you haven't yet seen fish wriggle onto land, save the occasional nature program, get to Cabrillo Marine Aquarium for a spectacular sight. There's a pre-grunion-viewing program at 9PM to explain grunioniana in all its wriggly wonder.

LAST REMAINING SEATS: Only two more to go for the season; the June 24th offering, "A Streetcar Named Desire," is at the Los Angeles Theatre. It's sold out, but there's a stand-by line. Is it possible to think about this movie without screaming "Stellllla"? No, it is not possible. 7PM doors
