What You're Doing Tonight: March 28th

MADELEINE PEYROUX: It's true that the first time we heard this singer (she's American, not French) we thought she sounded a tad like Billie Holiday, but only because we'd read that a few times and had that notion stuck in our head. But by the time we finished listening to "Careless Love" the jazzy balladeer sounded a lot like... Madeleine Peyroux. Her cabaret-ish, smoky, soft-lit songs just want to make us pull up to a tiny, candle-lit table at some out-of-the-way spot in the 14th arrondissement and sip some pale yellow liquor. Did we mention we're wearing an oversized flower in our hair? We are... Saturday, March 28, 7PM. Club Nokia, 800 W. Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles

ALSO ON MARCH 28: The riotous Orny Adams gets loud ('n lively) at the Improv; the Justice Tour with Tom Morello stops by the Music Box at the Fonda; and Prince plays three! sold-out shows over one night at LA Live.
