What You're Doing Tonight: March 30th

LA WEEKLY THEATER AWARDS: Oh, we do adore an intimate cabaret setting at an awards show. It feels clubby and chummy and a bunch of other words starting with "c" and ending in "y"; in fact, we'll add "Clooney" here, for including such a setting in his flick "Good Night, and Good Luck." The LA Weekly is putting on a big, cabaret-ish tribute to the vibrant local theater scene at the El Rey, hosted by those nattily attired, swingin' darlings of the Sahara, Louis & Keely (Jake Broder & Vanessa Claire Smith). If you're a supporter of homegrown plays, smaller venues and the playwrights and actors and designers who call LA home, definitely make a date. We think supporting theater in a land dominated by film and television (love those, too, kisses) is important. Monday, March 30, 6:30PM. $30. El Rey Theatre, 5515 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles.

ALSO ON MONDAY, MARCH 30: TigerHeat's Club HeartThrob is giving out the Britney balloons at HOB Sunset Strip while Emiliana Torrini brings songs filled with mystery (and a dash of Icelandic oomph -- think The Sugar Cubes) to the Troubadour.
