What You're Doing Tonight: May 21

NEW YORK DOLLS: They've got a fresh album out -- "Cause I Sez So" -- but their attitude, jumping beats, and gritty goodness are pure NYD. We just caught his turn as a cabbie "Scrooged" again and got to thinking what a maverick, in every sense of the word, Mr. David Johansen is, on stage, on film, everywhere. Music Box at the Fonda, 9PM

JIMMY BUFFETT: From the theatrical, city-street sounds of the Dolls to the smooth, salty vibes of the shore: Mr. Margaritaville brings his "Summerzcool Tour," and beachy outlook on life, to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Ready Parrotheads? We hope there will be plenty of pretty plumage, and lovely laid-back-ness, on display. 8PM

"HEARTWORN HIGHWAYS": A movie made in the '70s, released in the '80s, with lots of soul and honkytonk to spare. There's live music, and a DJ, and plenty of good things to take from a movie rife with country tuneage and mood.  Silent Movie Theatre, 8PM
