A 64-year-old Huntington Beach woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her 92-year-old mother, authorities said Tuesday.
Huntington Beach police say that on Sept. 4, officers responded to the 6800 block of Vista Del Sol Drive in Huntington Beach to perform a welfare check on 92-year-old resident Ruth Strange after a caller said Strange didn't respond to attempts to pick her up for a doctor's appointment.
"Upon entry, officers discovered Ruth Strange deceased at the residence, and detectives immediately began investigating the death due to suspicious circumstances," according to a statement from the Huntington Beach Police Department.
"Over the course of the next four weeks, detectives developed information and evidence leading to a suspect. Earlier today, detectives arrested Cynthia Strange, the victim's 64-year-old daughter," the statement continued.
Cynthia Strange was booked in the Huntington Beach Jail on suspicion of murder, and is currently being held without bail, officials said.
No further details were released.
