Fall Frolics in the Sequoias

HOUSEMADE GRANOLA: It's funny, how when reading something, a couple of words or phrase can sell you on the idea. Take the words "housemade granola"; it's a nutty foodstuff that's part of the Wuksachi Lodge's Fall Foliage package. There are a number of notable items included in the package, including an overnight stay, a box lunch for two, binoculars with which to spy foliage, and a card that will tell more of the surrounding area. But housemade granola grabbed our attention first. It just sounds so on-vacation-y. So full of good things for a day on the trails at Sequoia National Park. Chewy and nutty, too, we bet. The granola. Not the binoculars, or the overnight stay.

FALL FOLIAGE FINDS: Autumn in Sequoia National Park is pure California. Meaning you don't get all the fiery maples (is it some law that the words "fiery" has to appear before "maple" when speaking of autumn?), but you do get brisker temps and the occasional golden aspen. Beautiful. The Wuksachi Lodge's Fall Foliage deal starts at $244 a night and runs through Nov. 28, 2010.
