Worth the Drive: Oktoberfest Opens

We boast a bevy of delicious brats and schnitzels and spaetzle around these parts. And all year long, too. Lucky us. But come the fall, the foods and drinks and traditions of Germany come to the forefront of the go-out calendar, what with a flurry of festive Oktoberfest parties around Los Angeles and Orange County.

There are a few majors, of course, that happen for several weekends throughout the fall. And while Torrance is due to open soon, and Lake Arrowhead gets oompahing later this month, the Huntington Beach bash is first out of the gate. How first? The Old World Village Oktoberfest sets out the steins on Sunday, September 6th.

We know. Oktoberfest. You still haven't changed the calendar over from August yet. Best address that.

The Old World Village party runs Wednesday through Sunday -- hours vary, and tend to be later in the day -- from September 6th through November 1st. There will be strudel. There will be a kinderfest each Sunday for young fest goers. And there will be outlandish, break-out-the-cameras chicken dancing. Of course!
