WINDMILL-ADJACENT TASTINGS: Those icons of Solvang can really pull focus. Okay, our focus. They're just so colorful and photographable and downright windmill-y that we often forget we're standing in a town loaded with wine tasting rooms. A town that is vine-by-grape with some of the best wineries in the Golden State. Must make room in our noggin for both windmills *and* wine.
THIRD WEDNESDAYS: There's a Wine Walk every third Wednesday of the month. Twenty bucks gets you a glass and two tastings at five wineries (you get to pick from a larger list). Also happening every third Wednesday: a farmers market, probably very, very close to a windmill, we'd imagine. The next Wine Walk is on Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. Note that this wraps in October, so we'd get wine-walking lickety-split.
