Angelenos may be put out by our now-famous Carmageddons, but while they may not like them so much they love talking about them.
In fact, the only thing people 'round these parts like doing more than talking about a Carmageddon weekend -- funny that we're now talking about them in multiples -- is determining what deals inspired by Carmageddon most appeal to them.

Because that was a funny but welcome offshoot of the July 2011 Carmageddon and it will be again with its Sept. 29-30 sequel; an impressive number of discounts offered by local retailers, hotels, and restaurants, all themed to keep people in their neighborhoods and doing anything but navigating the freeways while ten miles of the 405 remains closed for Mulholland Bridge demolition.
Metro has an interactive map showing several discounts around the city, ranging from 2-for-1 deals on glasses of wine to stayovers at the Doubletree by Hilton Torrance. Some of the businesses are Metro's Destination Discounts partners, so you'll need to show a TAP card to get your deal; just read all before choosing.
The Hammer Museum is one notable free spot during the weekend; and Santa Barbara Car Free has rounded up some get-out-of-town temptations in case you want to clear LA altogether.
And the unsung hero of the weekend? It might just be the $10 pass from Metrolink.
