A gorge nicknamed Star Wars Canyon draws military pilots from around the world to Southern California's Death Valley National Park. They put on a spectacular air show in the narrow canyon as they train above the remote area about 260 miles east of Los Angeles.
Officially called Rainbow Canyon, the site gets its nickname because of mineral-rich soil and rocky walls in shades of red, gray and pink -- a landscape similar to Tatooine, the home planet of "Star Wars" character Luke Skywalker.
The roaring jets and other worldly scenery also attract photographers, who hike into the park to capture dramatic photos.
