17-Year-Old Killed in Officer-Involved Freeway Shooting in Anaheim

A 17-year-old girl was fatally shot killed in a shooting involving a Fullerton police officer on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Anaheim, police said Saturday.

The shooting victim was a resident of Anaheim, according to the Anaheim Police Department reported. Her name was not immediately released.

It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Friday on the freeway near the Kraemer Boulevard exit and prompted the closure of the eastbound lanes of the freeway.

Fullerton police confirmed that one of its officers was "involved in an on-duty officer-involved shooting" on the freeway. Fullerton police officials referred all inquiries to the Anaheim Police Department, which is handling the investigation.
