29-Year-Old Man Arrested in Connection With Attempted Kidnapping in Pasadena

A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a young woman last month, the Pasadena Police Department announced Saturday.

The attack happened on July 29 around 8 p.m. where a woman was walking home in the 100 block of West Maple Street.

While walking, she noticed a man standing near the opened passenger door of his vehicle. When the woman walked past the suspect, he pulled her by the hair and a struggle ensued. He managed to throw the victim to the ground and drag her a short distance before a passerby noticed what was going on and stopped, scaring off the attacker.

The suspect drove away westbound on Maple Street onto the 134 Freeway, police said.

The Pasadena Police Department released a composite sketch of the suspect and a photo of the getaway vehicle on Friday afternoon. That same day, a concerned citizen reported seeing the vehicle in the vicinity of the 300 block of Tamarac Drive in Pasadena.

After police conducted surveillance on the address, they were able to identify and arrest 29-year-old Jose Diaz Servellon.

Servellon’s bail was set at $1 million, police said.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for a criminal filing.
