Four people were killed in a violent crash involving two motorcycles in Modjeska Canyon in Orange County Sunday, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 4:38 p.m. near the intersection of Santiago Canyon Road and Modjeska Canyon Road, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. Four people, two women and two men, were confirmed dead, the OCFA said.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a northbound motorcycle with two people aboard was passing a car by entering the southbound lane where it collided with the other motorcycle, which also had two people aboard, California Highway Patrol Officer Florentino Olivero told the Orange County Register.
Santiago Canyon Road was shut down in both directions as authorities investigated the fatal crash.
