A woman was killed Sunday after a truck smashed into her stalled car on the 405 Freeway in Long Beach, trapping her as the car caught fire.
The other driver was a 50-year-old man driving his 2011 Toyota in the far left lane of the northbound 405 Freeway just north of Palo Verde Avenue.
His car hit the woman's stalled car at 2:45 a.m.
He escaped the burning wreckage with minor injuries, and was not arrested, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The woman's 2003 Honda had been blocking the number one lane, CHP investigators said. The woman was unable to get out of her car and arriving paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
