Man Killed in West LA Crash ID'd

One person was killed and at least six others hurt in a two-car crash in West Los Angeles near Palms Sunday morning, officials said.

The crash happened about 2:25 a.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway just west of Manning Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Polizzi said.

Los Angeles fire officials first reported seven people were hurt and one person was killed, but CHP officials said six others were hurt.

The crash involved a 20-year-old driver of a Toyota Camry and a 22-year-old driver of a 2010 Honda, CHP officials said.

A passenger in the Toyota died in the crash. He was identified as 46-year-old Anselmo Hernandez, of Los Angeles, officials said.

The driver of the Toyota escaped with only minor injuries. His passengers also included a 42-year-old man, who suffered moderate injuries, and a 16-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl, who both suffered minor injuries, according to the CHP.

The driver of the Honda and his passenger, a 23-year-old woman, both suffered minor injuries.

What led up to the crash was not immediately known.
